University Institute of Lisbon (Iscte)

Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa is a public research university established in 1972. Currently it has more than 13.000 students, 300 professors and 400 integrated researchers. Iscte is organised into 5 Schools: School of Social Sciences and Humanities (ECSH); School of Sociology and Public Policy (ESPP); Business School (IBS); School of Technology and Architecture (ISTA) and School of Digital Technologies, Economy and Society (Iscte-Sintra). It includes 8 R&D units and 6 Labs.

Iscte has a strong international cooperation with over 100 entities, private and third sector, participating in more than 200 projects and publishing more than 1700 international scientific papers each year.

CIES-Iscte - Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia (www.cies.iscte-iul.pt) is one of the R&D units in the area of social sciences, dedicated to studying contemporary social problems from a multidisciplinary perspective. 

CIES-Iscte is one of the 6 R&D units that form the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy, which promotes an interdisciplinary approach to address the scientific, social, economic, environmental, health, cultural and political challenges confronting society by fostering a close association between the social sciences and digital technologies to study and impact public policy.
