Niko Soininen (LL.D) is Professor of Environmental Law at the University of Eastern Finland School of law, Center for Climate, Energy and Environmental Law (CCEEL), co-director of CCEEL and co-director of the interdisciplinary UEF Water Research Programme. His research focuses on the law and governance of complex social-ecological systems with a particular emphasis on freshwater, marine and urban systems. Outside academia, he has worked as a consultant for HELCOM, the World Bank, and for several Finnish ministries.
