Dr. Matti Gurreck is postdoctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland where he is part of the INTEL project (funded by the European Research Council, 2024-2029) and the FOUNDATIONS project (funded by the Academy of Finland, 2024-2028), which seek to develop the foundations of energy law in Europe. He holds a PhD in European Union law from Leibniz University Hannover and an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and qualified as a lawyer in Germany.
Dr. Gurreck is a member of the Early Career Researcher Board of the Journal Oxford Open Energy. He is interested in EU and international energy law, environmental law, and food/agriculture law. Prior to joining the UEF he worked in research projects on water governance, energy law and climate policy at the University of Greifswald and as EU policy officer for an environmental NGO.
