Dr Kacper Szulecki is a Research Professor of International Climate Governance at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and an affiliate professor at the Centre for Development and the Environment, University of Oslo where he is also a fellow in the Include research centre for socially just energy transitions. He was previously an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Oslo, Dahrendorf Fellow at the Hertie School in Berlin, as well as a guest researcher at the Florence Shool of Regulation and Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, EUI Florence, and the Department of Climate Policy, DIW Berlin. He received his PhD in the social sciences from the University of Konstanz and an MSc in transnational environemntal governance from VU Amsterdam. His work focuses on national and European energy policy, climate governance, as well as on the politics of decarbonization and obstacles to ambitious climate action. He has (co)authored and (co)edited ten volumes, including ‘Energy security in Europe’ (Palgrave 2018), ‘The Chernobyl Effect’ (Berghahn 2022), the ‘Handbook of European Unon Climate Change Policy and Politics’ (Edward Elgar 2023) as well as special issues of Climate Policy and Politics and Governance dedicated to European decarbonization policies.
