Prof. Luigi Bonatti is a Professor in Economic Policy at the University of Trento’s School of International Studies and Department of Economics and Management. He holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University.
His recent research focuses on the development of dynamic models that can be used to evaluate the medium to long term impact of environmental policies - such as those envisaged by the EU Green Deal - on economic growth and people’s well-being. Moreover, he is contributing to the debate on the philosophical foundations and normative implications of the concept of transgenerational justice, as applied - in particular - to environmental issues. Bonatti’s current research relates to the work that he did in the past to show how the degradation of environmental and social assets may perversely feed GDP growth, thus giving rise to a vicious circle of higher economic growth and diminishing human well-being.
