Assistant Professor of Energy Transition and Climate Governance

Dr. Lisa Sanderink is an assistant professor at the Section of Governance and Technology for Sustainability, University of Twente. Her research focuses on energy transition and climate governance, with a special interest in the complexity of governance structures and the implications for effectiveness. Her research currently focuses specifically on the EU Mission to Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities as a governance innovation, analyzing how it works in practice and evaluating its effects in Amsterdam and Stockholm. Before joining the University of Twente, Lisa Sanderink worked as a policy officer at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy in the Netherlands. Her work focused on designing and implementing policies that optimally shape the energy transition and contribute to a low-carbon energy supply in the Netherlands. Prior to that, she acquired her doctorate degree at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with a thesis on the governance structure of the climate-energy nexus.
