François Dejean is heading the Secretariat to the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change. The Advisory Board is an independent body providing the EU with scientific knowledge, expertise and advice relating to climate change. It evaluates policies and identifies actions and opportunities to successfully achieve the EU’s climate targets. It was established in 2021 by the European Climate Law and consists of 15 independent senior scientific experts covering a broad range of relevant disciplines. The Secretariat supports the Advisory Board in its work.

Previously, François worked for 15 years at the EEA, where he led the group on climate change mitigation, energy and transport. Most of his and his team’s work focused on transparency and progress monitoring. François also worked as an environmental consultant for Ernst & Young in Paris in the early 2000s.

François holds an MS Degree in chemistry and a higher education degree in environmental management and engineering. He currently lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, with his wife and two children.
