Dr. Elin Lerum Boasson has published extensively on the drivers of climate and energy policies, particularly the role of policy entrepreneurship, organizational and institutional fields, business influence, political steering, policy diffusion and the EU. Her work is primarily comparative and contributes to climate policy studies as well as to historical and sociological institutionalism.

Boasson is deputy head of the political science department at the University of Oslo and gives political science master courses on public policy theory, EU studies and climate policy. Her fifth book was published in 2021, and she is currently editing her third special issue on climate governance research. Boasson is a lead author in the sixth assessment report cycle of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Working Group III Mitigation.
